May/June 2002
In early May we'll fly from Denver to Delhi, India. We'll start our adventure by taking tour to Jaipur and Agra to visit the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal, one of the most photographed and certainly one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. From there, we'll head up to Dharamsala, the current home of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in Exile. While we'ere there we'll visit the Tibet Children's Village, various human rights and democracy agencies and local monestaries. then we'll commenc on our two week trek into the Himalayas of the Ladakh region. Ladakh is one of the most remote ethnic and cultural centers of the Tibetan world. These once forbidden paths lead to the world's highest peaks and some of the oldest and most revered Buddhist monasteries. Experience trekking among the highest mountains in the world and take the oopportunity to gain insights of a complex social mosaic with its blend of Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, and an overlaying local shamanistic and animistic beliefs. This trip is a cultural immersion and the opportunity of a lifetime. Come join us on the adventure!!!

Note: While trekking and sightseeing we will be accompanied by a staff of Indian guides, porters, and yak-herdsman. You will only carry what you need for the day. During our treks we will have a full kitchen staff that will cook three meals a day. You will experience traditional Ladakhan cuisine along with pizza and pasta. One of the many advantages of having a staff is the rapport you will establish with people you would not otherwise have met. Here is a built-in opportunity to learn more about diverse cultures, make friends and more.
